Larry Jarvis – State Director
Larry Jarvis became involved in the volunteer fire service at 13 years of age in Niverville, New York in 1967. After moving to Alabama and serving in the U.S. Navy he became a member of the Faulkville VFD in 1979 and was elected chief in 1980. In 1986 he became a career firefighter with the Hartselle Fire Department and remained the chief of the Faulkville Volunteer Fire Department. In 1989 he took a training position with the Alabama Fire College and currently serves as the deputy director of training. He is a member of the Alabama Firefighters Association, Alabama Association of Fire Chiefs and a past director of the Alabama Association of Volunteer Fire Departments. He currently serves as a captain of the Duncanville Volunteer Fire Department.
C. Reid Vaughan – Alternate State Director
Reid Vaughan grew up in a volunteer fire department and was sworn in November 1, 1995 as a member of the Cuba Volunteer Fire and Rescue Department. He remained a member of the department and likewise joined the nearby Livingston Department of Public Safety while in college. Vaughan was appointed to the position of Fire Chief in 2005 and currently serves as the chief of the Cuba Fire Department and is the founding member of the South Sumter Fire Battalion (automatic aid group). He is currently employed as a member of the staff of the Alabama Fire College in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Vaughan serves as the Vice Chairman of the Alabama Firefighters Annuity and Benefits Commission, Vice-President of the Alabama Firefighters Association, Alternate Director (District III) of the Alabama Volunteer Fire Departments, Member of the Alabama Fire Chiefs Association, and is currently serving his fourth term as a member of the Cuba City Council. He also serves as an ordained minister since 1996 and is currently serving as Minister of Music at the Lauderdale United Methodist Church. Reid and his wife Rindy have one daughter (Ashlynne).
