Apparatus Operator Mobile Water Supply Certification

The Alabama Firefighters Association in conjunction with Green Pond and Coaling Fire Departments is proud to offer the Apparatus Operator Mobile Water Supply Certification. The 16 hour class will be held April 16th and 17th at Coaling Fire Department, located a mile south of the Mercedes Plant. This is the first delivery of the class to Alabama departments, class is free to AFA members.

EMS Public Hearing

A public hearing is set for March 2, 2011, at 10:00 am. It will be held in Suite 1586 in The RSA Tower. The comment period will then run through April 1, 2011.

4th Annual Fishing Tournament

Heroes and Hooks along with AFA is hosting the 4th annual Fishing Tournament

 at Guntersville State Park on June 2-3, 2011

All boats must have all the safety equipment required and approved by the U.S.C.G.

Only largemouth, smallmouth and spotted bass 15 inches or longer will be weighed in.

Five fish limit per boat. 2 Dead fish allowed with 8 oz. Penalty each.

Any boat late for weigh-in, will be penalized 1 lb for every minute late.

According to the number of boats entered, the top three places and big fish will be paid

Based on an 80% payback scale. Additional prizes will be given away by a drawing.

You must be a firefighter or police officer to compete.

A state fishing license will be required for each competitor.

 The 2-Day Program is offered at the National Fire Academy NFA as an educational opportunity for fire and rescue personnel from Alabama to attend 2-day courses. These courses strengthen Alabama fire service community through education, personal networking, and a shared collegial experience.
